The Indonesian transport system has many idiosyncrasies, as a result Archipelago Resorts & Fleet Bali office prefer to assist all divers with domestic flight booking arrangements in order to reduce the additional stresses and concerns trying to book Indonesian domestic flights from overseas.

Archipelago will even go so far as to help divers to check in luggage at the domestic terminal on the day of the cruise departure; It's all part of the service.

Additional payments such as Airport tax, porter fees, vehicle transfers and agent fees are all encompassed in the newly implemented divers Harbour Fee payment which accompanies any liveaboard reservation.

At time of writing, the luggage allowance is 30kg per diver for Garuda and Lion Air Flights. The allowance on most other local airlines is 20kg. Excess baggage charges vary with each airline, but are generally between 10,000 and 15,000 Rupiah per kilo. Though Archipelago will help where possible, divers will be responsible for their own excess luggage payments.

International Airport tax to depart from Indonesia is 100,000Rp payable in cash when checking through to the departure lounge.

• Passports must be valid for a minimum of six months as from the date of entry to Indonesia.
• Onward or return tickets are also compulsory.

Visa on Arrival

A fee of $25 is paid to immigration officials at the airport entitling foreign nationals from 36 countries to a maximum visit of 30 days. Extended visas can be arranged, this however must be in advance of the visit or fines of $20 per day will be incurred.

The 36 countries that require a Visa On Arrival are listed below:
Argentina - Australia - Austria - Belgium - Brazil - Canada - China - Denmark - Egypt - Finland - France - Germany - Hungary - India - Ireland - Italy - Japan - Kuwait - Luxembourg - Maldives - New Zealand - Norway - Oman - Poland - Portugal - Qatar - Russia - Saudi Arabia - South Africa - South Korea - Spain - Switzerland - Taiwan Territory - UAE - United Kingdom - USA

A selection of countries are exempt and do not require a visa to enter Indonesia for 30 days: Brunei Darussalam - Chile - Hong Kong SAR - Macao SAR - Malaysia - Morocco - Peru - Philippines - Singapore - Thailand - Vietnam
